What's Available
This section provides lists of most of the newspapers available to Leeds Met users:
Newspapers are available in various formats -- printed copy, microfiche/microfilm and CD-ROM (both via the Web and on stand-alone workstations).
Most newspapers have their own Web site where you may register your details (usually access is free) and view current news and a limited archive set. However, Leeds Met also has subscriptions to a number of UK newspapers which provide a full archive set.
The following Information Databases also provide access to a number of newspapers:
- 19th Century British Library Newspapers collection contains
full runs of 48 newspapers specially selected by the British Library
to best represent nineteenth century Britain

pamphlets, and books gathered by the Reverend Charles Burney

- Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS) Daily Reports
The United States' principal record of political
and historical open source intelligence for nearly 70 years. The original
mission of the FBIS was to monitor, record, transcribe and translate
intercepted radio broadcasts from foreign governments, official news
services, and clandestine broadcasts from occupied territories. Many
of these materials are first-hand reports of events as they occurred.
- NewsBank NewsBank's Special Reports focus on topics
of current interest. They include content from sources throughout the
world to provide a global perspective, current and background information,
statistics, maps, images, websites, and suggested search terms. New information
is added daily to featured and current reports.

- Nexis is a very useful database for major world newspapers
including Asia/Pacific, European, US, and some regional newspapers.
- PressDisplay - Newspapers Online provides online access
to over 400 newspapers from 65 countries in 45 languages.
