  • Library Services Unavailable Saturday 20th March. Due to essential maintenance, some services will be unavailable on Saturday 20th March 08:00 - 12:00.

  • Library Services Unavailable Saturday 13th March. Due to essential maintenance, the telephones in the IT labs and bookfloors at Civic Quarter Library will be unavailable on Saturday 13th March from 09:00 to 12:00.
  • New Wireless Network in The Library. The University has introduced a new wireless network, Eduroam, to supplement the existing one available across the campuses.
  • Skills for Learning Workshops Spring Timetable. The spring programme of drop-in workshops includes 'Critical thinking', 'Posters with PowerPoint' and 'Referencing - Harvard style'.

  • Win £20 Book Token - Round the World Library Quest. The Library is celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 4th March with a competition, running until 12th March, to solve 5 clues hidden in The Library.

February 2010

  • Library Services Unavailable Sun 28th Feb. Due to essential maintenance, some services will be unavailable on Sunday 28th February.
• 22nd
  • Printer Relocated to Ground Floor at Headingley Library. After reviewing the statistics on use of the printers within The Library and listening to your feedback, one of the black and white printers from the second floor has been relocated to the ground floor.
  • No Library Telephones Sun 28th Feb 08:00-09:30. Due to essential maintenance, you will not be able to contact The Library by telephone on Sunday 28th February from 08:00 to 09:30.

  • Leeds Met Book Club Meetings - Spring/Summer 2010. The Leeds Met Book Club will meet monthly in the Civic Quarter Library (room LS104) at 5pm.
  • Top Loans for 2008/9. Following in the footsteps of the Public Lending Right figures, The Library at Leeds Met reveals the top 10 most borrowed titles from Civic Quarter and Headingley.

  • Reading in to Student Satisfaction. The Library is proving to be a hit with students once again after appearing in the top ten of the Times Higher's annual Student Satisfaction Survey for the second year running.
  • Self-Service Holds Prove a Success. 28% of people are already picking up their holds during The Library's self service hours, according to a survey conducted in December.
• 15th
  • No Civic Quarter Library Telephones Sat 16th Jan. Due to essential maintenance the telephones in Civic Quarter Library will be unavailable on Saturday 16th January from 08:00 - 11:00.
  • eJournals List Downtime Mon 18th Jan. Due to a scheduled upgrade, the Find eJournal list will be unavailable from approximately 8pm on Monday 18th January until 2am on Tuesday 19th January.

  • British Library Archive Collections. Library Online provides access to British Library archives of original newspapers from the last four centuries.

  • Win £200 and have Your Work Published Online. Europe Direct Leeds and the European Information Association are running a student essay competition and want your views on Europe.
  • No Telephone Service Saturday 31st October 08:00-09:00. On Saturday 31st October, essential maintenance is taking place on the University's telephone system.

  • X-stream "At Risk". X-stream should be considered "at risk" from 07:00 to 09:00 on Tuesday 20th October while essential maintenance is carried out.

  • Access the Catalogue from Facebook. You can now search the Library Catalogue, check out what you have on loan, on hold or your fines via Facebook, thanks to a pioneering project by Library staff.
• 28th
  • Business and Tourism Journals in The Library. Following the move of stock between Civic Quarter and Headingley over the summer, journal locations in the Library Catalogue are still being updated.
• 17th
  • Interlibrary Loan Charges. The cost of Interlibrary Loans is now £2. This is the first time in nearly 20 years that the cost has increased, despite the British Library regularly raising its charges.
  • The Library Welcomes New and Returning Students. The Library has made a number of changes and improvements over the summer vacation.
  • Skills for Learning Workshops for the Autumn Term. Throughout the academic year Skills for Learning runs free drop-in workshops at both Headingley and Civic Quarter campuses covering academic writing, maths and IT skills.

  • Library Resources Have Moved. The Library stock moves have been completed - resources to support Leeds Business School can now be found in Civic Quarter Library and those for tourism and events are now available at Headingley Library.

  • Elluminate/X-stream Downtime 18th/19th July. Due to a scheduled upgrade, Elluminate (via X-stream and the ELM Web interface) will be unavailable from approximately noon on Saturday 18th July, and should be available again on Sunday morning.

  • Library Resources Are Moving. The Library stock moves have been completed and we will continue to tidy stock and fine-tune the new arrangements over the coming weeks.
• 3rd
  • Catalogue & Self-Service Unavailable Mon 20th July. Due to essential maintenance, the Library Catalogue and Library Self-Service Facilities (including telephone renewals) will be unavailable on Monday 20th July, and should be considered at risk on Tuesday 21st July.

  • Internet Unavailable Sunday 21st June 10:30-12:30. The internet will be unavailable on Sunday 21st June from 10:30 until approximately 12:30 as we work on improving our connection.

  • Survey of Users of the Offsite Service. In Summer 2008 we asked users of our Offsite Service (support for students who rarely, or never, come on to campus) what they thought of the service.

  • Green PCs. From 1st June, all PCs in The Library not in use at 20:00 will be shut down to save energy.

  • Library Resources Are Moving. From Tuesday 26th May to Friday 26th June, due to the relocation of resources in Civic Quarter Library there may be some disruption and noise on the First Floor.
  • Skills for Learning. You can still get help from Skills for Learning during the Summer Vacation.

  • Before You Leave for the Summer. Important list of things to do before you go home for the Summer Vacation.
  • New 24/7 IT Help Available for Summer Vacation. As well as Headingley and Civic Quarter libraries being open 24/7 throughout the Summer Vacation, we are launching a new out-of-hours help service for IT enquiries when our help desk services are closed.

  • Civic Quarter Library Closed 06:30-09:00 Sun 5th April. Civic Quarter Library will be closed on Sunday 5th April 06:30 - 09:00 due to essential electrical maintenance.
  • Reading & Writing Festival 23 April - 1 May 2009. The Leeds Met Reading & Writing Festival runs from Thursday 23rd April to Friday 1st May.

  • New Athens Authentication System. The Library is in the process of implementing a new authentication system for logging on to all Athens authenticated electronic journals and resources called Athens DA.
