Our archival and special collections are held by the University Library, situated on the City and Headingley Campuses. The archives collect, describe and preserve material of special interest for future generations whilst seeking to promote knowledge of and access to this rich heritage for educational, professional and research purposes.
The Special Collections at the City Campus Library comprise several unique collections with thematic links in the fields of Architecture, Art and Design and Social History. These include the West Yorkshire Society of Architects Library, Leeds School of Architecture Library, Leeds College of Art Collection, the Tom Pevsner Collection, the Co-operative Historical Collection and various internal University collections from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. These collections are being actively developed through partnership with national and international cultural and professional bodies.
The Leeds Metropolitan University Archive provides a repository for the historical archives of the University and its predecessor colleges and institutions, and other collections deemed to have significance to the University. This includes the Beckett Park Library Collection, University Archive Project Collection, Carnegie Historical Collection and other diverse holdings. The Archive strives to promote and provide access to this heritage to all students, staff, alumni and visitors, thereby enriching their University experience.
