Any resources returned late will result in a fine:
Interlibrary Loans are 30p per day if you return an item late. However, if an item is very late, an invoice for the full replacement cost will be sent by the British Library. They impose a minimum charge of £137.50 plus VAT for invoiced items, including a non refundable administration charge of £68.75 plus VAT.
If your fines go over £5.00 you will be unable to renew, borrow or place holds until they are paid.
Please speak to Library staff as soon as possible if you have any queries or problems paying your fines.
You can pay fines in person or by phone (for amounts over £3.00). We accept all major credit/debit cards.
If your account is not cleared by the end of the academic year, you may not be able to graduate.
Lost or damaged items
If you lose or damage resources that are issued to you, please tell the Help and Information staff immediately. For damaged or lost items that are not found, you will be expected to pay the replacement cost. If resources become very overdue without having been reported as lost, you will receive an invoice for the replacement cost.
The date or time that an item has to be returned to The Library is on the self service receipt or stamped on the date label.
The Library will send you an email to your University email account a few days before your standard loans are due back to remind you to return them.
If you want to keep a resource for longer you can renew it (as long as no-one else has placed a hold on it and you have not got a fine of more than £5.00).
It is your responsibility to know when your resources are due back and make sure they are returned or renewed on time.
